A Month of Socializing More

On March 14th, I made a long blog post about how the Internet has conveniently been made a Third Space for many people, myself including. For some, it's liberating. For others, it's a crutch. I am a part of the latter group.

I felt/feel lonely and disconnected with other people and made the conclusion that I need to go outside more, I need to socialize more, I need to get off the internet more. This was a month ago and this is an update.

I've gone out weekly, a few times a week, and I've become a "regular" at a few places. People are more comfortable chit chatting with me when I show up frequently. I am also more comfortable talking to people the more I do it. My husband has been feeling more social as well. We regularly look up new activities to do, more ways to get out and talk to people. We're looking into doing some light sports together and we feel overall happier.

I feel less lonely, less disconnected. I feel healthier and happier. I'm getting more exercise, more sunshine and more socializing. I still struggle with my anxiety and other mental illnesses but it's significantly better.

I literally only have positive things to say about being on the internet less. That's all for now, I'll probably update in another month or so.
