New Interests
To break up the past few blog posts where I'm on a soapbox, I'd like this blog post to be a little bit about some of the hobbies and interests I'm looking into. I'd like to document it for accountability, for posterity sake and just for my own personal records.
- Aquarium / Aquascapes
Bringing some life into our home in a controlled space like this is really enticing. I'm nervous about possible bugs though, so I need to research a little more. Also, I'd like my little aqua pets to be well taken care of so I want to get all the kits to test the water's parameters and such. It's a big upfront cost so I'll take my time with dipping my toes into this one.
- Microgreen / Sprout growing
I have some of the materials in my cart, sitting there, until I can add some other stuff to get free shipping. I'm leaning more towards growing sprouts at home, rather than microgreens, because sprouts can be contained in a jar whereas the microgreens are on a bed and more exposed. Again, worried about bugs, some methods that keep things contained is very enticing to me. Continuing to research this and also patiently wait for my cart to fill up more.
- More HTML
I'd like to make another site for a separate project that will be unrelated to this site altogether. I've been browsing r/webdev and saw some really great infographics for CSS. Will continue to do so. There's no rush, since I'm still very much absorbing the delicious dopamine of finishing my personal site.
- Vaporwave Music Making
I actually made a few songs a few years ago, some Lofi remixes with rain and vinyl static blasted to the max. Very lazily made, but who cares? Not all art has to be hyper effort. I'd like to get back into that but I need to do some research because I honestly struggled a lot before and it wasn't that fun. I'll do some research so it's easier for me and less stressful, more fun. I will probably post it somewhere online too!
- Embracing Old Tech: Burning CDs
I've got a portable CD Player, a USB CD burner and some CDs in my cart but again, I don't want to drop a bunch of money on a million new hobbies at once, I like spacing things out so I can control my consuming a little better. This gives me time to really think about purchases, discuss it and really think about the money. Mind you, the CD Player is like $18, but it's the principle!
- Bookbinding
I'd bound a book twice now and I wasn't really happy with the end result. I want to do a deep dive of some different types of bookbinding and see if I can find a method that works better for me. I have the materials I need already, so this is just me setting aside time to research. I'd like to print out some fanfiction for me to bind, not only for archival purposes but also just for funsies :)
That's all for now, but I genuinely think I'm forgetting one, which really goes to show how many different interests I can have at a single time. I sure hope I can edit this blog post if I remember it. If I can't, I'll make a part 2, if I can, then I'll plainly state that there's an edit made.
...If I'm not forgetting one at all and I'm mistaken then I'll see you next time!
