The Memeification
Long time no post, blah blah blah. I've been enjoying life IRL but wanted to make a blog post. They will be few and far apart.
It is beyond exhausting trying to talk to other people that just respond in memes. They won't only respond in memes, but they will when they don't know what else to say. And then it's like, you're almost expected to "meme" back. Or give them a little chuckle to reassure them that you know what meme they're referencing. It's infuriating. Because if you don't know what meme they're talking about, or the meme is way too reductive and it doesn't really apply to the conversation, the conversation will now shift to "Explain the Meme and its Purpose in this Conversation" time.
I honestly find most conversations/discourse about serious topics so mentally draining and it's not even because of the subject at hand, it's trying to keep the other person on topic, trying to keep up with their memes, trying to keep up with their niche little references and examples. It's like they're constantly borrowing their words from someone else and they can't actually just use their words on their own.
